Many differences: They are both cancers and may both be derived from primitive neural tissue. Otherwise they can be easily distinguished by a pathologist using a series of special stains. These tests distinguish different cell types. Also these tumors display different genetic abnormalities. Bottom line, these tumors ate derived from very different cells. These tumors are also treated very differently.

Cell type: Both are rumors that can arise in locations of normal nerve tissue. Cell types will differ for both types as will tumor behavior. Neuroblastoma is typically found in younger children under four years of age. The age range for pnet is broader.
