Specializes in Cornea, Cataract, & Refractive (LASIK & PRK) Surgery

Depends : If the decline is due to cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration, or some other eye disease, then lasik surgery will not help. If you are talking about loss of reading vision with age or distance glasses prescription, then lasik may be helpful.

Not a good idea: Lasik is designed to correct your eyeglass prescription. It corrects your disease prescription but does not reduce the need for reading glasses. So, if you mean by old age, that you need glasses to see clearly at things up-close, that is a condition called presbyopia and is not treatable with lasik surgery.
