Contacts have risks.: All contact lenses carry risks such as infection, scarring, or blood vessel growth on the cornea. Special cosmetic contacts carry extra risks and should only be used under the supervision of a doctor. Never, ever wear any contacts unless prescribed to you by a doctor. The risks of cosmetic contact lenses not prescribed by a doctor are so severe that they are illegal in a number of states.
