Pounds of Prevention: Whether it is excess fat or muscle, basic physics tells us p=w/a. Pressure is directly related to weight and since the area across the joint surfaces are constant, if you increase your weight you increase the pressure on the joint. Over time this can lead to injury and pain. Muscle weight, however, provides power and stability for the joints. Fat weight contributes nothing so try to avoid it.
