Ask more questions: Take a deep breath. How old is this person. How long has she been this weight? How quickly did she lose her weight? No eating disorders but is she consuming enough calories? Or exercising excessively? What other tests have been performed? Consultants need to know what's already been done so they don't reinvent the wheel. Parasites? Hiv? Colon cancer? Colonoscopy? Ulcers? Egd? Keep looking!

Depends!: Low weight has many causes and it should be investigated thoroughly. Important question is if weight loss is recent or chronic as many illnesses like tuberculosis and HIV or cancer can cause it too. Remember low weight can be genetic. There is no simple answer except it needs to be further investigated by your physician.
