What can one expect on the first visit with a physical medicine specialist?

Visit to PM speciali: A history of the illness is taken and then an examination is done. The doctor usually then discusses his opinion of the cause of your complaints and details possible treatments.

Same as other Drs.: A visit to a physical medicine specialist is just like any other visit. He/she will obtain your medical history of your problem along with a general health history, perform a physical examination with special emphasis on the part of the body that is having the problem, review old records, possibly order diagnostic tests if needed and design a treatment tailor made for you.
