Boil or abscess: May have started as a plugged up pore leading to a pimple and then a larger cyst forming which can become infected and become a boil or abscess. It may need to be lanced and drained by a doctor, treated with oral antibiotics. Warm compresses, topical antibiotics can be used in the interim until you see a doctor.
