Many options: Topical or oral antibiotics, injections into the cyst with kenalog (triamcinolone) (steroid), incision and drainage or extraction of the cyst by a dermatologist or physician, surgical excision of the cyst (for intractable deep cysts that cannot be removed by the other options). Prevent cysts by using glycolic or salicylic acid washes, exoliating scrubs, retinoids, laser hair removal.

May need surgery: The cyst has a lining which accumulates skin debris which causes these cysts to grow slowly. Although a needle puncture or aspiration can decompress a cyst, it will simply fill back up with material, especially if it is a large cyst. The key is to remove the lining of the cyst. Hope this helps :).
