A virus--ugh!: If you use antivirals they will be gone in 7 days--if you do nothing they will be gone in 1 week. Sorry, but there is some truth to the sarcasm. Acyclovir ointment can be applied to the sores. Anesthetic creams can reduce acute pain. I recommend keeping yourself fit to fight the viruses with healthy foods and proper sleep.

Ease the pain......: It is not known what causes canker sores (aphthous ulcers) although it is believed that stress and irritation to the mucous membranes of your mouth may play a role. There isn’t much around to make them heal any faster. There are many products that you can get in your pharmacy that are otc that either numb the area or provide a temporary covering to make them feel better. Avoid spicy\acidic food.

Laser: The will go away in 7-10 days. Lasers have been shown to reduce that time as well as reduce pain.
