Four categories: Bunion surgery can be divided into simple bump removal, cutting and moving of the metatarsal (behind the big toe) bone near the joint, operating at the base of the metatarsal or joint destruction with a fusion or replacement of the joint. Each procedure has benefits and limitations and your podiatric surgeon can assess your bunion deformity and recommend which would be appropriate for you.
