See MD: Many viral colds are also associated with bronchitis or coughing up sputum. Many viral bronchitis illnesses will resolve spontaneously even with no antibiotics in otherwise healthy individuals. Coughing up blood may be just due to the bronchitis but it is an indication to see an md to investigate the cause of the blood and black spots to rule out serous problems.
