Pleuritic pain: The type of pain you describe is called "pleuritic chest pain" it can be caused by a variety of conditions, most of which are not serious. I would recommend you get examined and obtain a chest x-ray, as some of the causes do require prompt treatment.

Can be heart disease: Can be stable angina. I would go to cardiologist. Have an echocardiogram and thallium stress test. If a positive stress test, undergo a cardiac catherization to rule out coronary arty disease vs coronary spasms known as prinzmetal angina.

Rib cage: Sharp pain increased by a deep breath and with associated tenderness may come from a rib or a pinched nerve that is between the ribs. Heart pains are usually not sharp it wouldn't be from the lung if the area is tender to touch. Esophageal origin is unlikely without gerd type symptoms or trouble swallowing.Have your physician examine the area if the discomfort persists and an x_ray may be ordered.

Esophageal spasm: Sounds like symptoms of your esophagus spasming, kind of like a Charlie horse of that muscular tube. Take smaller sips, avoid very hot or very cold. Also try relaxation techniques like deep breathing and calming visualization techniques. RELAX!
