Migraine Workup: In atypical migraine headaches, MRI venogram is sometimes performed to rule out clots in the sagittal sinuses which could be causing the problem.

Unusual: Typically, a neurologist would do very little testing if a classic migraine history, and a normal exam. If the pt seemed to have focal weakness, was taking bcp's, or was pregnant, and things seemed unusual, the venogram would be employed to search for venous thrombosis. But, on a routine basis, would be unlikely to be done.
