A member asked:

For childhood acute leukemia, is there any food that she can take or not?

Not aware of any...: First, I am truly sorry about your loved one that has leukemia. Certainly we look for ways to support and assist during this most difficult time. However, I am unaware of a special diet that has been found helpful in combating leukemia--by avoiding or by consuming certain foods. Logic suggests that a well-rounded diet with good protein should help; perhaps you should talk with the oncologist.

Follow this guide: Food borne illness can be a problem for everyone, but especially for those with a compromised immune system, which occurs during cancer treatments. Eat a balanced diet and follow these guidelines: raw fruits and vegies should be well washed. Avoid raw or undercooked meat/fish/poultry. Milk products should be pasturized. Do not eat raw eggs or egg products (cookie dough, cake batter, etc).
