Depends on the : Severity of symptoms. If you can swallow and keep up the intake of fluids and nourishment, you could wait for next week. If fluid starts coming back up, there is risk of the material getting in your lungs. If that happens it would become an emergency.

Don't wait.See doc : Could actually have something stuck in esophagus; docs call it a "bolus arrest". That can be due to uncoordinated muscle contractions of the esophagus, narrowing from chronic heartburn/reflux, even tumors. If food remains a long time, can do significant damage; can get "fished out" with endoscopy. Get seen asap.
