Indirectly: Generally tinnitus is not caused by anxiety (as far as we know) but sometimes tinnitus is reduced by the use of anxiety-relieving medications. For more severe cases, sometimes tricyclic antidepressants are used (but have many side effects). See ENT doc for possible easily treatable causes of this condition like wax buildup & for options for tx of other causes.

POSSIBILY: It is possible that it could or be reduced. Real tinnitus however is not that easy to treat or eliminate. So depends on the tinnitus and if it is really stress related. Of course reducing stress is good overall.

Yes, no, maybe: It is not likely that anxiety would cause permanent tinnitus. However, tinnitus can be very painful emotionally, and the anxiety resulting from experiencing tinnitus can increase its intensity. If the tinnitus is severe, start with your primary care physician to clarify possible causes and contributing factors, however you may need to see an otologist for definitive answer. Good luck.
