Neurosurg or ortho: The specialist that you will eventually see will either be a neurosurgeon or an orthopedic surgeon. Both are well trained in these areas and they often rotate "spine call" at most hospitals.

Many: Many types of doctors deal with this problem. Some internists will deal with this. Osteopathic physicians deal with this frequently. The specialists involved include, neurologists, physiatrists, orthopedists and neurosurgeons. Some slipped discs need surgery, many do not.
