A member asked:

Was the sars epidemic in 2003 "engineered" by the pharmaceutical industry a big hoax to for them to market their drugs?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Absolutely not: There are no drugs which treat sars so there was no way to profit from a random outbreak of a devastating viral infection. Ascribing evil intent to pharmaceutical companies is a popular meme, but few industries can boast such an improvement in our everyday lives.
