A member asked:

Can ankle pain be tied to previous or current knee injuries?

Absolutely: Pain in any leg joint (hip, knee or ankle) can be caused by a problem with that or any other leg joint. In the case of the ankle, a knee injury can change the angle at which the knee works, putting stress on the ankle and causing pain.

Compensation injury: Simple answer is yes. You can get a compensation ankle or hip injury after a knee injury from transfer of stress.

Possibly: If you are compensating for the knee pain, there are times when patients complain of other issues such as ankle pain.
