Can an increase in eye pressure lead to retinal detachment?

No: Retinal detachment and glaucoma are independent variables. Neither causes the other. In the course of evaluation for suspected retinal detachment, the eye pressure is always measured so sometimes glaucoma will be detected by the retinal surgeon.
