Why ?: Breast milk or formula provide all the nutrition a baby needs tor the first year of life. Solids offered during that period are a cultural issue & teach skills needed to move to table foods.Complex foods offered early can trigger food reactions like vomiting or diarrhea that can lead to dehydration or food allergies.Start simple & take your time.Avocado might be tolerated but i'd wait until a year.

See below: You should read dr greene's book "feeding your baby green". It dispels a lot of the myths regarding feeding your baby, such as causing food allergies, not true. Also, there is evidence that delaying introduction of solids may lead to overweight children.
