Bacteria caused odor: The tongue is a cause of much mouth odor due to bacteria and food particles lodged in the many creases and crevices of the tongue. Regular tongue scraping is very helpful in maintaining a healthy , and odor free, mouth.

It's the bacteria: The saliva is not what stinks, it's the bacteria in the saliva which cause the odor. The best thing to do is to get a tongue scraper and scrape the surface of your tongue to remove this bacteria. You should do this every time you brush and floss your teeth and you should notice an improvement in the quality of your breath.
