Years ago it was found to be associated with restoring menstrual cycles and fertility in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome (pcos) due to the link with Insulin elevations. However, in the last 5 years, studies have not demonstrated metformin as an improvment of fertility in pcos patients and is only indicated if the patient has prediabetes or diabetes.
