Does muscle imbalance + turned rib cage mean scoliosis?

It may in the sense: That a turned rib cage is a sign of the spine's twisting or rotation which is what a scoliosis deformity is all about. Muscle imbalances such as those related to certain syndromes or conditions or even related to paralysis can be associated with a scoliosis as well.

It can be a sign: It can be a sign of scoliosis. It is important to see a md trained in the evaluation of scoliosis to make a correct diagnosis. There are other causes of a turned rib cage and muscle imbalance which should be ruled out. This can be done by visiting a md trained in the field.

Potentially: Possibly, scoliosis sually begins with a rotation of the vertebrae. This causes a rib hump, otherwise known as an asymmetric trunk rotation. There are also patients with neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy that have muscular imbalance and can have scoliosis. Please consider being checked, a simple xray will definitively answer the question of whether or not you have scoliosis.
