Leafy green vegies: While having a balanced diet is important, leafy green vegetables that are high in lutein such as kale, collard greens, turnip greens have been found to be good for retinal health, more so than vitamin a. Omega-3 fatty acids are also important for retinal health and also as part of the tear film lubricating the eye. Zinc was found to be an important nutrient to prevent macular degeneration.
