IOL, cataract: A variety of excellent biocompatible intraocular lens implants are currently available for implantation. The most common type are soft malleable plastic polymers such as acrylic. Others are silicone based and still other types use hydrogel. More rigid types that don't fold typically are made from polymethylmethacralate. Some modifications of the lens include multifocal, accommodative, and toric.

Several Options: There are many lens choices for vision correction. Although the standard monofocal implant has stood the test of time (63 years to be exact), it has limited ability to provide you with glasses freedom. Toric implants correct astigmatism, while multifocal and accommodating lenses can provide distance and reading vision without glasses. Ask your eye surgeon about which may work best for you.

Depends on patient: Many lens replacement options are available: monofocal (acrylic, silicone), multifocal, toric, accommodative. A questionnaire will help determine which is best for you. http://eyedoc2020.blogspot.com/2013/08/cataract-and-refractive-lens-exchange.html Also depends on how much astigmatism is present in cornea.
