Liquified!: The lens, and the cataract that is forming in the lens, is liquified by a process called phakoemulsification. That liquid is rinsed and drained out, so that the lens of the eye is gone.

Cataract surgery: The lens (behind iris) is usually clear & is like a pillow in a pillow case. When cloudy/white & affecting vision, surgery recommended.
