Many causes: There are many causes of facial pain- trauma, infection, tmj/tmd, side effect from meds, etc. If it lasts for awhile, i would see your doctor.

Many Causes: There are many reasons so it would be hard to give an exact reason. You may need to go to the doctors to see what the cause is so you can have a definitive diagnosis and treated if you need to be treated.

TMJ: Probably most common disorder causing both facial pain and tightness would be TMJ disorder. Can be other things. Best bet see TMJ exprt. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
