Carpal tunnel: The most commonly trapped nerve in the hand is carpal tunnel syndrome. The median nerve can be compressed as it enters the hand leading to numbness and tingling in the thumb, index, middle, and ring finger. Less commonly, the ulnar nerve can be pinched leading to numbness in the ring and small finger and weakness of the hand.
