Inflammation?: Back problems causing pain at night are frequently associated with spine or sacroiliitis. You are not having radicular pain suggesting a disc. Check with a rheumatologist!

See below: Without more informationa the cause is impossible to determine. I would see your pcp. Does the pain go down the legs from the back? What makes it worse? Is the pain the reason you can't sleep?
