A member asked:

Why do lights get a star effect with night driving for my 77 yr old mom?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cataracts possibly: The star effect is due to light scattering. This can occur anywhere in the axis of light entering the eye. Cataracts would be the most common in a 77 yo woman, but corneal disease and scarring could also cause this. Have Mom see her ophthalmolgist to determine the cause and arrange treatment.
