Men/Women short : From a statistical standpoint in this country, short men are those who are less than 5'5" in final height. Women less than 5'0" are considered short in this country. There are separate growth charts available for those of asian descent. Children whose height is greater than 2 sd below the mean for age on a growth chart are considered short.

Relative term: Short stature is generally a term reserved for those in the shorter percentile range on a standardized growth chart, or those that are shorter than their expected height based upon their parents height.
