Brain hormones: Iether high or low hot=rmones from brain area called the hypothalamus. Mostly due to low hormones called lh and fsh and easily treated with these hormones. If due to ovarian (or testicular failure the problem can be serious.

Many causes: Hypogonadism can either originate from testes or ovaries which don't work properly or from the pituitary/hypothalamus in the brain. The pituitary/hypothalamus make hormones which end up stimulating ovarian/testicular hormone production. Many causes for either type including genetics, chemotherapy/radiation, brain tumors/injuries or other anatomical deformities in the brain, etc.
