Complicated: First of all, if you have a uterus you need both estrogen and progesterone. So that is the issue. If you have no uterus you only need estrogen. Ert has fewer side effects (without a uterus). There is some data to suggest certain combinations of hrt (but not ert) slightly increase the risk of breast cancer.

ERT is HRT: Estrogen on its own has some indications for symptomatic relief. Hrt is a broad category that could also include male hormone, thyroid hormone or more.
