Death is : A risk from anesthesia, but it is a very unusual complication. Your health and the type of surgery you are having will effect that risk. Discuss your individualized risk with your doctor.

Highly Unusual!: Anesthesia risks depend largely on the age and overall health of an individual, the severity of his/her condition, the urgency and duration of the procedure, and the experience and expertise of the entire surgical team. Yes: However, it is very unlikely. The risk of death is greater than 1 in 350, 000 cases. That is to say it is more dangerous to drive to the hospital the morning of surgery that to have the anesthesia.
