How would i know if my son has pinworms?

Cellophane tape applied to the area can lift the eggs off & they can be seen under a microscope.

Pinworms: If you see white short threads around the anus, they are pinworms. You can press a scotch tape to capture it/them and set on a glass slide. . If you do not see the worms, do the same procedure. Bring the slides to a lab or to the doctor for confirmation under a microscope. The second tape will show the eggs. Best time to do this is late night when worms come out lay eggs.

Itching: If he has anal itching, and other contacts have similar symptoms. The little white thread like worms tend to crawl out at night, so you can see them sometimes around the anus. Your doctor can do the "scotch tape test" of the anus to pick up the little eggs and see them under a microscope. The treatment is relatively safe, and we often treat based on suspicion.
