Pinworms: If you see white short threads around the anus, they are pinworms. You can press a scotch tape to capture it/them and set on a glass slide. . If you do not see the worms, do the same procedure. Bring the slides to a lab or to the doctor for confirmation under a microscope. The second tape will show the eggs. Best time to do this is late night when worms come out lay eggs.

Your doctor can do the "scotch tape test" of the anus to pick up the little eggs and see them under a microscope. The treatment is relatively safe, and we often treat based on suspicion.
