A member asked:

Do sublingual aspirin & nitrates works at the time of brain stroke?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Aspirin is best: Most cases of stroke are caused by blood clots in the vessels of the brain. The best first treatment is aspirin. A regular rapid dissolving 325mg tablet should be taken immediately. Nitrates may be used for the heart, but are not a good idea for the brain. Good control of blood pressure, management of any diabetes, stopping smoking, and losing weight are all very important.
