Why can't my family member talk after abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery?

Possibly a stroke: If your family member had a stroke during the surgery that affected the speech center(in the left side of the brain), they might have speech difficulties. A consult with a neurologist is the next step.

Something else: The aneurysm repair or surgery is independent of speech. Still medicated? Stroke? Depressed? Need to talk with the surgeon and review testing.
