Depends on grade: Astrocytomas are graded from 1 to 4 by the who. Who grade 1 astrocytomas are curable only if it is possible to be removed surgically. Who grade 2, 3, and 4 astrocytomas are not curable. The median survival of a patient with a diagnosis of a grade 2 astrocytoma is 5 years (j neuroonc 31:273, 1997), a grade 3 is 3 years (j neurosurg. 106:575, 2007), and grade 4 is about 1 year (j neuroonc, 1997).
