A member asked:

What are some signs of carrying the sickle cell trait?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nothing: Sickle cell disease causes anemia, pain crises, susceptibility to certain infections, and more. It's a recessive condition, which means you have to inherit two beta-globin mutations to have scd. If you inherit just one, you have sickle cell trait, and that does not cause noticeable signs or symptoms. Under extraordinary circumstances, sc trait can cause problems, but for most folks nothing.
