Peritonitis Causes: Peritonitis is an irritation of the lining which covers the contents inside of your abdomen. Various different disease processes can cause peritonitis. In simple terms, anything that does not belong inside of the abdominal cavity when present. Can cause irritation which leads to peritonitis.
