Not sure: Puberty is occurring earlier - we think because girls are heavier. True precocious puberty may be due to many factors. If you have a girl child who is growing breasts or having a menstrual period ahead of her peers see a pediatric endocrinologist now.

Precocious puberty: Precocious puberty is pubertal development before age 8 in girls. The causes are too many and complex to review, but are divided into gdpp) early developmental signals from the brain, and gipp) abnormal steroid production, such as from tumors or ingesting hormonal medication. Over 80% of gdpp in girls is idiopathic, meaning no cause is identified.
