A member asked:

Is it possible to reverse plaque build-up in the small arterioles through diet and exercise?

Yes: Some studies show the start of plaque regression at HDL levels greater than 45 mg/dl. This may be accomplished through cardiovascular exercise, diets that are low in saturated fats and rich in unsaturated fats, and dietay supplements containing omega-3 fish oils. Consult with your family doctor, internist, or cardiologist for more details.

No: Atherosclerosis is not reversable mostly. However, with diet and excercise you can stabilze the disease process and prevent the "slope on the curve" of it getting worse, as it typically does with aging.
