Is eating too much ice bad?

How much is too much: Eating ice is probably not bad (except it is bad to chew ice as it is hard on the teeth.) however, there are reports of people getting water intoxicated due to drinking too much water leading to an electrolyte imbalances. Avoid too much of anything is a good rule of thumb.

The Pagophagia: Eating ice by itself is not necessary a bad thing beside hard on your teeth, but pica, the excessive eating of non-nutritive substances such as dirt/clay, chalk, wood, soil, paper, glasses etc..May suggest an underlying medical problem such as anemia, zinc deficiency, or developmental trouble (often in children). So, if you have "need of eating ice" excessively, consult doc for eval. Good luck.
