Possibilities....: Your cough may be due to bronchospasm from any etiology, gerd, post-nasal drip or even a combination of factors. It may not be due to infection or it may have started out as an acute bronchitis infection but now bronchospasm is complicating your recovery. See your doctor again since all these possibilities have different treatments. If you smoke, you need to quit to decrease airway inflammation.
