Depends: The need to use of compressions stockings after leg surgery varies depending on the type of surgery you have. If it is for an orthopedic procedure, wearing them until you are able to resume normal activity makes sense and helps prevent dvts. For varicose vein procedures it is important to wear them regularly for at least one to two weeks after the procedure to ensure the procedure is successful.

Depends: Your symptoms can be a guide to the amount of time you need to wear stockings. If you have swelling or persistent pain after any operation on your leg you should see your doctor and preferably be evaluated by a vascular surgeon.
