Venous Stasis Ulcer: Periwound itching can be treated with a steroid cream. But itching can be a sign of other things in patients with venous stasis disease. If you have an ulceration, you should be evaluated by a professional who is familiar with wound care. Itching may be a sign, for example, of increased drainage coming from the ulcer and/or an infectious process.

Treat the source: As dr. Bolhack said, there can be many reasons why venous leg ulcers itch. Steroid creams can help but the venous insufficiency that caused the ulcer can also produce itching too. If you have a venous leg ulcer and itching and you aren't getting your venous disease treated, you need to see a vein specialist who can treat the underlying problem.
