Balance: When people say loss of balance, they typically mean they have difficulty walking. This can result from a couple different things: 1. Peripheral nerves - loss of sensation in your feet, feels like walking on pillows - seen in diabetics 2. Cerebellum - loss of coordination - trouble reaching towards things, doing fine movements 3. Vestibular system - vertigo - room spinning, +/- hearing loss.

Multiple things.: Loss of balance is a complicated problem and can come from a variety of issues including sensory loss from the extremities, or loss of sensory input from vision or the balance mechanism in your ear or loss of integration at specialized areas in your brain, or loss of ability to maintain posture due to muscle weakness, or loss of nerve function.
