A reduced number or responsiveness of the eggs can be due to a genetic factor or chemo. Or radiation. The brain hormones that trigger ovarian activity can be altered by a tumor or weight changes. Medications like tamoxifen or stress, for ex. Can cause a temporary "menopause".
