Not likely: Typically dental pain does not radiate down that far. In some cases of TMJ problems, that can affect even neck muscles. I would see your md or a physical therapist for further evaluation.

Any TMJ symptoms?: I agree with dr. Greenhalgh. If you are having periodic pain in your facial muscles, neck, shoulders, frequent headaches, stuffiness in ears and/or pain in the jaw joint, i would consider finding a dentist who treats jaw joint problems. Most md's don't know very much about TMJ dysfunction or treat it.

Possibly from TMJ: The tepromandibular jaoint can sometimes cause distant pain in the upper neck and collabone rerion. Usually a tooth infecxtion is more localized. If fever is present, have full dental radiographs to rule out this reason for pain.

More likely TMD: Not likely to be from an infection. Could be a trigger point from a tooth contact... Noxious tooth contacts can cause discomfort and pain in many muscles of the head and neck...

Not TMj, tooth: If the only area of pain is the collar bone, unlikely TMJ or dental with no pain above collar bone. I'd recommend screening exam with MD. He will probably want an x-ray of the collar bone (clavicle).
